Every year on Bhadra Shukla Tritiya, this festival is celebrated by fasting and worshiping Lord Mahadev.
This festival is celebrated by dancing and singing in houses, Shivalayas
and temples based on the religious belief that worshiping Lord Shiva-Parvati brings happiness, peace and well-being to the family.
Along with Pashupatinath, on the occasion of the festival, devotees flock to Shiva temples across the country including
Gokarneshwar, Doleshwar in the valley. There is a crowd of fasting women in temples all over the country.
